Ciumbuleuit is a neighbourhood in north Bandung known for its cooler air and its university atmosphere. If you are planning on staying in Ciumbuleuit, this guide explains where it is, how to get there from Stasiun Bandung (the main railway station) and the Pasteur toll gate, and what you will find nearby.
We have written it from the point of view of Aksara Hotel, at Jl. Rancabentang No. 5A, Ciumbuleuit, Kec. Cidadap, Bandung 40141. All distances below are measured from the hotel, and journey times always depend on traffic.
Where Is Ciumbuleuit?
Ciumbuleuit lies in the Cidadap district, in the northern part of the city of Bandung. It sits between the city centre and the hills to the north, which is why the air feels cooler. From the hotel, the city centre is about 15 minutes away by car, depending on traffic, and Gedung Sate is about 4.8 km away.
The area is also known as a university neighbourhood, as Universitas Katolik Parahyangan (Unpar) is here, about 200 metres from the hotel. For visitors, Unpar is an easy landmark when finding your way.
From Ciumbuleuit, north Bandung's green escapes such as Dago, Punclut, Taman Hutan Raya Ir. H. Djuanda and Lembang are relatively easy to reach. You will find more ideas in our guide to nature spots in north Bandung.
Staying in Ciumbuleuit: Getting There
From Stasiun Bandung
Stasiun Bandung is about 6 km from the hotel. The easiest option is a taxi or a ride-hailing app. The station has a north entrance and a south entrance, so make sure your pick-up point matches the side you leave from, which makes it easier for your driver to find you. With large suitcases or a group, book a car rather than a motorbike.

At weekends and during holidays, the area around Pasteur can get congested, so allow extra time. When you arrive, valet parking will take care of your car.
