Coming to Bandung by train is a popular choice for good reason: no driving, no parking to worry about and you arrive in the middle of the city. Stasiun Bandung is one of the main stations in the centre, and from there it is an easy hop up to north Bandung.

This guide explains how to get to Aksara Hotel on Jl. Rancabentang No. 5A, Ciumbuleuit, about 6 km from Stasiun Bandung. There are also tips on traffic, luggage and making the most of your arrival day.

Arriving at Stasiun Bandung

Stasiun Bandung sits in the city centre and has more than one exit, on its north and south sides. Before you book a car, check which exit you are using, because the pick-up point in the app needs to match where you are actually standing. If family or friends are collecting you, agree on the exit in advance so you are not waiting on opposite sides.

When you step off the train, take a moment to gather your things and make sure nothing is left on board. Follow the signs to the exit you have chosen. The station can get busy when several trains arrive close together, so there is no need to hurry out.

Getting to Ciumbuleuit: Taxi or Ride-Hailing

The distance is about 6 km, and the journey time depends heavily on traffic. For a wider picture of the area, see our guide to Ciumbuleuit and how to get there. From the station itself, there are two practical options.

  • Taxi: look for an official taxi at the station's pick-up area. Give the full address, Jl. Rancabentang No. 5A, Ciumbuleuit, or show the location on a map.
  • Ride-hailing car or motorbike: book through an app and make sure the pick-up point matches your exit. Choose a car if you have a large suitcase or are travelling as a family.

A motorbike taxi is quick for one person with a small bag but awkward with a suitcase. For a larger group, consider booking a bigger car in the app so all the luggage fits in one trip. Whichever you choose, check the number plate and driver's name against the app before you get in.

Traffic Tips When You Come to Bandung by Train

The route from the station to north Bandung runs through city streets that can be busy, especially at rush hour, on Friday afternoons, at weekends and during holidays. If you can choose your train, arriving outside peak hours usually makes the transfer smoother.

When it rains, demand for ride-hailing tends to rise and waits can be longer. Allow for a little patience, or book your car as you walk towards the exit. With children in tow, keep snacks and water handy, as slow traffic can make the ride feel longer.

Tip: save the hotel address and our WhatsApp number on your phone before you travel. If the signal is weak in the busy station, you can still show the details to your driver easily.

Luggage Tips for a Smooth Arrival

Walking from the platform to the exit is easier with a wheeled suitcase and not too many bags. A suitcase that is not too heavy also makes getting in and out of the car easier. Keep valuables, documents and your phone in a small bag that stays close to you.

  • One wheeled suitcase and one small bag is usually easier than several bags.
  • Pack a light jacket, as north Bandung tends to be cooler in the evening.
  • No need to bring a hair dryer or iron: both are available on request at the front desk.
  • Rooms come with toiletries, an electric kettle with tea and coffee, and free drinking water refills.
