Choosing the right hotel room can feel like a small detail, yet it shapes how well you rest on every night of your trip. A bed that is too snug for two, or children squeezed in with their parents, can take the shine off an otherwise lovely break. So before you press book, here is a practical guide to finding the room that suits your group.
At Aksara Hotel, a retro mid-century hotel in Ciumbuleuit, north Bandung, rooms are grouped into three categories: King Room, 2 Queen Room and Family Room with Bunkbed. Each one is designed around a different kind of traveller. Read on to see which suits you, your partner, your family or your friends.
Three Room Categories at Aksara Hotel
Each category contains several room types with slightly different layouts and character, but what defines the category is the bed arrangement. That makes it the easiest place to start: how many people are sleeping, and how happy are they to share a bed?
King Room for Couples and Solo Travellers
The King Room has one king bed and is ideal for two guests. It takes up to two adults and one child, so it still works for a couple travelling with a little one. Room types in this category are Mono Superior, Mono Deluxe and Junior Suite, all listed on the King Room page.
2 Queen Room for Small Groups
The 2 Queen Room has two queen beds and is ideal for four guests. It suits families with older children, friends on a weekend away, or colleagues who are happy to share a room but not a mattress. The room types are Executive Room and Royal Suite Twin, which you can compare on the 2 Queen Room page.
Family Room with Bunkbed for Families
The Family Room with Bunkbed pairs one king bed with bunk beds for two children or two adults. Parents get the king bed, while the children have bunks of their own, which often feels like a small adventure. This room is the Aksara Suite, and you will find the details on the Family Room page.

How to Choose the Right Hotel Room for Your Group
Before you open the room pages, answer one simple question: who is coming? Once you know that, the right category usually becomes obvious.
- Solo or a couple: the King Room is the simplest choice, with one large bed to sink into after a day out in Bandung.
- A couple with a young child: the King Room still fits, as it takes up to two adults and one child.
- Four friends, or a family with teenagers: the 2 Queen Room gives each pair a queen bed of their own.
- Parents with two children: the Family Room with Bunkbed keeps the parents' bed and the children's bunks in one room.
- A larger group: book more than one room, for example two King Rooms, or a 2 Queen Room alongside a Family Room.
It also helps to think about the length of your stay. For a single night, sharing space is easy. For two or three nights, especially with children, enough room to move means suitcases, shopping bags and morning routines are not competing for the same corner.
Enter Adults and Children When You Search
When you search for rooms on the website, fill in your dates, the number of adults, the number of children and the number of rooms with care. These numbers matter: the results adapt to your guests, so the rooms you see are the ones that actually fit your group.
If your group is larger than one room can take, add another room and search again, or choose a roomier category. That is far better than booking a room that is too small and hoping it can all be sorted out at check-in.
One more tip: count children as children and adults as adults. Accurate numbers mean the search results genuinely match the people travelling with you.
The Same Comforts in Every Room Category
Whichever category you choose, the essentials are the same. Every room comes with:
- Air conditioning and Wi-Fi
- A smart TV
- A hot shower and toiletries
- A mini fridge and a safe
- An electric kettle with tea and coffee
- Free drinking water refills
A hair dryer and an iron are available on request from the front desk. That leaves you free to focus on the bed arrangement and the feel of the room you like best.
Next, Choose Your Rate
Once you have found the right room, you will see the rate options. "Room only" offers free cancellation according to its policy, while "Room only, saver" is cheaper but non-refundable. Our guide to choosing a hotel rate plan explains when each one makes sense.
Please note that room rates do not include breakfast at the moment. Artisan Coffee on the 2nd floor opens at 8 am with coffee, pastries and main courses, so your morning can still begin at an easy pace.
Ready to Find Your Room?
Choosing the right room really comes down to matching the beds to your group. Two of you? Go for the King Room. Four? Have a look at the 2 Queen Room. Bringing the children? The Family Room with Bunkbed may be just the thing.
Open the rooms page, enter your dates and guests, then compare what is available. If you are still unsure, our team is happy to help on WhatsApp.
